Kymco Scooter Accessories, Parts and More

Kymco is a scooter brand manufactured in Taiwan since 1970. The brand was developed to compete with the the Italian Vespa / Piaggio brand, which was developed in 1946, took Europe by storm, and then became wildly popular in America. Both scooters are sleek, stylish and very easy to handle, with high fuel efficiency and extreme versatility. The Kymco retails for about half of what a Vespa does, but the Vespa is slightly more customizable. Kymco scooters can be still be tricked out, but there are fewer options.

Many scooter owners opt to upgrade their basic scooter either at time of purchase or after market. This allows them to customize the bike specifically to their needs and sense of personal style. Actually, the tradition of selling motor scooters in 'basic' condition allows scooter manufacturers to keep prices low, and permits consumers to pick and choose what extra accessories they want to install which can save them money.

Kymco Scooter Parts

The Kymco scooter parts most commonly sought after are actual working parts such as premium brake pads, performance shocks, variators, exhaust systems and cylinder kits. In this age of 'Pimp My Ride', more and more people are looking for ways to enhance both looks and performance. Other Kymco scooter accessories commonly installed include windshields. These come in two shades - clear and smoked - and can be short and wide for better visibility or high and curved to deflect bugs, gravel and debris.

The Vespa scooter (Piaggio manufactures seven group brands of scooters, mopeds and other vehicles common in Europe, and the Vespa is heavily imported to the States) is more expensive than the Kymco scooter. Parts for the Vespa, however, are very plentiful and there is a lot of customizing that can be done to a Vespa / Piaggio scooter. Different windshields, front and rear racks, backrests and passenger grips can be selected and installed easily; often by the owner. The trademark look uses quite a bit of chrome, similar to the all American chopper – which is a distant cousin of the scooter.

Vintage scooters can be also restored and put back in order with replacement parts - the Vespa GS 160, an older vintage model prized by such celebrities as Jerry Seinfeld, has been making a comeback in recent years. This has led to a renewed availability of specialty parts such as specialty emblems and cowl or fender trim. The GS 160 (Gran Sport) is considered by most to be the most elegant Vespa ever designed, and there is good market for restored models. Most parts are interchangeable with the SS 180.

Kymco Scooter Accessories

Kymco scooter accessories reflect the overall value of the less inexpensive scooter by being readily available, reasonably priced and easy to install. There isn't as much variety, but what there is is high quality. Whether you have a brand new bike or are in the process of restoring an old one, you can generally find authorized Vespa or Kymco scooter parts to meet your needs and get you out on the road in style.
