Vespa Accessories
Vespa Battery
Your Vespa battery should be matched carefully to the scooter model you own. Using the wrong battery can cause damage to your scooter. If you only use your scooter periodically, you may want to top off your battery to prevent problems. A 12 volt Vespa battery is the norm for modern Piaggio; bought online, they are shipped dry and must be taken to a local shop for activation.
Vespa Horn
You can add accessories to your scooter, such as a Vespa horn, alarm system and stereo equipment. These can all be easily added if you know anything about electrical wiring, and will make your scooter that much more safe and fun to ride. Older Vespas did not have turn signals; these can be quickly implemented but sometimes an upgrade to the battery will be necessary
Vespa Sidecar
A Vespa sidecar can be put on vintage and modern large frame models to add passenger space; of course, weight decreases scooter speed and the Vespa sidecar will limit handling. The larger an engine you have, the more capable your scooter will be of hauling a sidecar and occupant. Be prepared for fuel efficiency to drop somewhat. You can choose from several different styles of Vespa sidecars, from the classic rocket shape to larger ‘cozy’ sidecars complete with a canopy.
Vespa Windshield
Choosing a Vespa windshield or fly screen for your Vespa opens up a variety of options. Stella owners prefer the traditional checkerboard fly screen that really is not much more than a deflector - or alternately, a solid black, blue, red or white screen. A tall narrow screen or a short wide one is usually available depending on model - you can generally choose between clear and smoked. Another popular choice for a Vespa windshield is the classic Faco or Cuppini style; these are flared on each side at the bottom, come in a variety of heights and sizes, and may or may not be edged with rubber trim.
Whether your additions to your scooter are bolt on or electrical, you can choose from a wide array of accessories and parts to customize your ride and match it to your own specifications and needs. Don’t forget to check model numbers and year specifications when parts shopping - some models have interchangeable or modifiable parts but not all, and you want to be sure you have the appropriate accessories for your scooter.
