The GY6 is the name given to a family of single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC engines that can be found in a variety of scooters and ATVs. GY6 engines are also sold and marketed as a "ready replacement" units in the event that the time that would be spent rebuilding/repairing an older or high-mile engine is excessive
OR (in 150cc form) as a high-performance engine swap/upgrade for 50 cc scooters like the
Honda Ruckus (above).

The GY6 is available in "standard" and "long" assemblies, although the most common version is the short, which is primarily used in scooters that have 11" (or smaller) wheels.
