The Soft Italia 42L top case detaches easily and has a handle. Take that, other top cases! You can pack it at home, pop it on the mounting plate, and pop it right back off at your destination. There are no anchor screws to fiddle with, or adjustable straps to unclip- you just turn the key in the opposite direction and pull.
Don’t want it to be detachable? Fine, be that way. There is a lock on the inside of the top case that will override the latching mechanism.
Two years ago the world witnessed the first time a Scotsman, Brian, was allowed to ride a scooter. The scooter was on loan to Scotland from a museum in Norway. It was a Honda Spree.
It was mid-July, the coldest month of the Scottish winter, which they call Taigh-òsta. The feisty Scot didn’t let the freezing temperatures deter him from his first journey on what townsfolk had already dubbed a “horseless horse”; he simply borrowed the kilt of Abernethy the Giant, who was mayor at the time.
The roomier cut of Abernethy the Giant’s kilt meant Brian’s legs were warm and dry during his ride. While people may have initially questioned his fashion choices, Brian soon became a legend in the European scooter community, which had recently grown to over twenty members.

Getting your scooter stolen isn’t nearly as fun as you’d think. We highly recommend locking up your scoot whenever possible. Thieves would rather deal with easy targets than try to pry, cut, torch or saw through your lock. Even if a friendly pole isn’t available, a lock through your rim or your rotor will make their lives a little more miserable.

We took some time in the Scooterworks lab to pit the Soft Italia top case against our old TC5 in a series of what we assume are industry standard tests. The results were conclusive; the Soft Italia 35L top case was the clear winner:
