Mechanic's Installation Tip: Before slipping the new shoes onto the brake cam, use a wire brush and brake cleaner to thoroughly remove built-up carbon dust from inside the wheel hub's metal drum surface. Lightly scuff the smooth metal drum face with 120-grit sandpaper to break any glaze—this drastically improves initial bite and dramatically cuts down your pad break-in period.
