SSP-G
SSP-G Upgear Set - Honda Elite 50 1994-2001
Description
This SSP-G performance upgear set gives your 1994–2001 Honda Elite 50 two-stroke taller gearing for higher top-speed potential when the engine has the power to pull it. Choose the milder 15/42 option or the taller 16/42 option to suit your engine and riding conditions. Each option includes a small gear shaft and a matching 42-tooth large gear.
Key Features
- Higher top-speed potential: Taller gearing allows more road speed at the same engine RPM and CVT ratio, provided the engine can overcome the increased load.
- Two gearing choices: Choose 15/42 for the milder change or 16/42 for the taller setup.
- Lower cruising RPM potential: At the same road speed and CVT ratio, the taller final gearing reduces engine RPM.
- Matched gear pair: Includes the replacement small gear shaft and 42-tooth large gear for the selected option.
- Known fitment dimensions: Small gear overall length is 58.75 mm; large gear bore is 16.95 mm and thickness is 15.35 mm.

Stock Gearing Comparison
The comparison below uses the original 1994–2001 Honda Elite SA50 final-drive arrangement: 12/42 primary gears and 13/45 secondary gears, giving approximately 12.115:1 overall reduction. The upgear calculations retain the stock primary gears. Overall ratios are not the same as the ratio of the replacement gear pair alone.
| Configuration | Overall reduction | Reduction / wheel-torque change* | Theoretical speed change* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stock | 12.115:1 | Baseline | Baseline |
| 15F/42R | 9.8:1 | 19.1% less | 23.6% higher |
| 16F/42R | Approximately 9.2:1 | 24.2% less | 31.9% higher |
*Comparisons assume identical engine torque, CVT ratio, tire circumference, and drivetrain losses. At a fixed road speed and CVT ratio, engine RPM is theoretically about 19.1% lower with 15/42 or 24.2% lower with 16/42. The speed percentages are gearing calculations, not promised top-speed gains.
Taller gearing trades wheel torque for speed potential. Launch, hill climbing, and acceleration can suffer, particularly with a stock or restricted engine, heavier loads, or steep terrain. If the engine cannot pull the taller ratio, actual top speed may stay the same or decrease. CVT shifting and tuning also affect the result.
Choosing your option: The 15/42 set is the more conservative choice when you want to preserve more pulling ability. The 16/42 set suits an engine with enough additional power to make use of the taller gearing. Neither option adds horsepower.
